Years ago, my grandparents gifted me two handmade rocking chairs that had been part of our family's story for generations. I wanted to preserve them in a way that reflected both my love for leatherworking and the values they represent.

Using a hide from one of our own steers that I personally tanned by hand, I carefully rewrapped each rocking chair in leather. It was one of the most meaningful projects I've ever completed. Those chairs became a reminder that the things we cherish most are often made with our own hands and passed from one generation to the next.

That project inspired what we now call the Rocking H — our brand mark and our promise. To us, it represents faith, family, hard work, and timeless craftsmanship. It's a reminder to slow down, create with intention, and build pieces that are meant to be used, loved, and eventually passed on.

Founded in 2019, Howell & Hide Custom Leather is a family-owned leather workshop in Mississippi where every item is handcrafted one at a time. From custom belts and guitar straps to handbags, duffel bags, wallets, and heirloom restorations, every piece is thoughtfully designed using premium leather and traditional techniques.
